The Hoot Digital Archive

"The Hoot Archive is now hosted by Ashoka Archives, the Archives of Contemporary India project at Ashoka University, for archiving and preserving primary source material for the study of modern and contemporary history of India."

The Hoot Archives has been created under the auspices of the Media Foundation based in New Delhi. The Foundation is a society of like-minded individuals founded in 1979 to promote, support, encourage and undertake social science, statistical and scientific research pertaining to the print, electronic, film and other media. To achieve these objectives they sponsor research projects, studies, publications, lectures, seminars and discussions. They also promote and support research and development in appropriate, adaptive and advanced technology with a view to making the media accessible to the masses at low cost, especially in the rural areas. Besides, they offer grants, stipends and many other facilities for encouraging the growth of skills, opportunities, experience that enhance creativity, professionalism, and excellence among practitioners. 
   
About the Collection: The digital archives comprises media related articles, media monitoring, special reports and research studies covering watching media in the subcontinent over 16 years.
